Blue Ruffle Skirt
I think it's safe to say Spring has officially arrived here in Austin (watch as I say that, and end up jinxing the weather and a cold front blows through and prolongs winter for another month… just my luck).
Regardless, I’ve already packed up my heavy winter coats and started rolling out my Spring wardrobe. One thing that’s big in my Spring lookbook has been bold trousers (see my blog post here) and the more obvious obsession… skirts! Tbh, you can never go wrong with a good skirt that you can wear on repeat throughout the Spring and Summer seasons.
Talk about #goals!
I’m going to quickly take a moment to really appreciate the fact that I have finally mastered the art of the perfectly-timed skirt flip photo. *adds “master of skirt flip” to resume*
Anyways! I got this super adorbs skirt from none other than my fav, Targé… aka Target. And it is easily one of my most favorite skirts. I was a bit worried about the ruffle detail solely because – like TV – ruffles can visually add weight to a person. However, since these ruffles draped nicely, and were not constructed out of thick material, so they visually did not take away from my figure. The skirt was airy and light (not sheer – so no worries about anything showing that shouldn’t be), which is perfect for those hot Texas-summer days that will soon be upon us. I also love the wrap detail. Anytime you find a clothing piece that wraps, its typically slimming, which is an element I always love. In addition to the wrap detail, the skirt featured a slit that has the ability to be a high slit or a casual knee-high slit (based on how you wrap and tuck the skirt). If you couldn’t tell, I’m one hundo p (aka 100%) here for that higher slit – but that’s my personal preference.
Pulling from the beautiful blue color, I paired this skirt with some of my all-time favorite Kendra Scott earrings. The soft periwinkle-color makes for a great Spring/Summer statement earring and pulls from the blue tones in the skirt to make the color really pop. Complimenting the white stripe detail in the skirt, I paired this skirt with a white off-the-shoulder top, strappy white heels, and a solid white clutch featuring a fun tribal stitching detail, for added texture.
